FAQS & TIPS

What Temperature Should Pork Chops Be Cooked Too?

Pork chops should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. The best way to check the temperature a boneless pork chop is to insert a meat thermometer into the center of the pork chop to check it’s temperature.

It’s always good to remember that the cook times in the recipe are a recommendation, but depending on your oven and the thickness of your pork chops may take more or less time. That’s why it’s always best to check the temperature of the meat with a thermometer. Depending on how hot your oven runs you may need to add more time or reduce the cooking time.

Are Pink Pork Chops Safe To Eat?

Cooked pork chops that are a little pink inside are safe to eat as long as the internal temperature is at 145 degrees F.

Additional Tips

  • The double-dipping of the pork into the egg, then the cheesy crumbs, ensures the coating will stick to the meat. You can stir in a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the egg or 1/2 to 1 teaspoon crushed dried herbs if you only have regular bread crumbs or plain panko.
  • Browning the pork chops in the skillet helps give a head-start to baking in the oven.
  • A finely grated Parmesan creates a more even coating, but you could also use a coarser shred for a cheesier crust.
  • The thinner the chops, the quicker they will cook. Be sure to start checking doneness in the beginning of the bake range so that the pork is not overdone.
  • You could sub in center-cut bone-in chops for the pork cutlets but look for the thicker chops. The technique for browning the meat in a hot skillet first, then finishing it in a hot oven is a restaurant technique that ensures you don’t overcook the pork.
